1st day of Kindergarten

Excited about Kindergarten!

All the kids of Windrush Lane waiting on the bus

Blake politely let the ladies board the bus first.

No hug or kiss, but we did get a wave goodbye.

Today was the 1st day of school. 1st day of kindergarten for Blake. We were up before the sun getting ready: getting dressed, eating breakfast, brushing teeth and packing backpacks. We were at the bus stop early, which was good because the bus came early this morning. Got some pictures with the neighborhood kids. The bus pulled up and all the kids jumped right on the bus. Not a tear in sight. Blake did wave goodbye to us. Off they went to school.

Luke's 1st Haircut!

I finally got up the nerve after 3+ years to cut Luke's hair. Of course, the kid was bald for the first 2 years of his life so he didn't need a haircut. I was so sad after Blake's first haircut that I knew I wanted to wait a little longer with Luke. Lately the hair has gotten out of control. He looks like he's stuck his little finger in an electrical outlet when he gets up in the morning or after nap and the curls could get a little wild. We figured it was about time, but we weren't sure if he would tolerate the clippers or freak out and have a hissy fit. So I picked him up from daycare one Monday afternoon and made sure that he could watch Blake and Daddy get haircuts too. Blake sat and was a big boy for the clippers. I let luke touch them and feel them vibrate. Daddy was next and while I was cutting his hair I asked Luke if he wanted a haircut. He said "yes" so we stopped mid-haircut and put him in Kevin's lap and started clipping his hair. I used the longest guard so he wouldn't look like I scalped him and he took it like a champ. His hair is so fine that a few minutes and we were done. His hair is so light it's kind of hard to tell from the before and after photos, but we think it came out very nicely.

Luke before haircut. Excuse the cowboy/astronaut cape. It's the only one we have. Kevin just loves it.

Alright, I did it already. Quit taking my picture!!!

Blake's Birthday with the Family.

The "friend" party was a little hectic so we were glad to have a smaller, quieter family party the next day after church. Grandma Pam and Grandpa were already here for the weekend, but Grandma Lucy, Uncle Norm and Granddaddy all came over too to share in the fun. We grilled hamburgers and hotdogs and had chocolate cupcakes (of course).

Blake's 5th Birthday! A Pirate Themed Party.

Blake decided that he wanted to have a "Jake and the Neverland Pirates" birthday party. This year was the first year he was allowed to have a "friend" party so we let him invite a couple of friends from school and a couple from church and his neighborhood friends. Since it was mid-July we planned water activities since it was likely to be very hot. We were worried the weather wouldn't cooperate because there was a forecast of storms, but the storms held off til the party was over.
